सरदार उधम सिंह ने 13 मार्च 1940 को लंदन के कैक्सटन हॉल में माइकल ओ'डायर की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी। माइकल ओ'डायर 1919 के जलियांवाला बाग नरसंहार के समय पंजाब का लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर था और उसने जनरल डायर की बर्बर कार्रवाई का पूरा समर्थन किया था। उधम सिंह ने जलियांवाला बाग कांड का बदला लेने हेतु यह कदम उठाया था।

Sardar Udham Singh shot and killed Sir Michael O'Dwyer on 13 March 1940 at Caxton Hall in London. O'Dwyer was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab during the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre and had actively endorsed General Dyer's brutal firing. Udham Singh assassinated him to avenge the atrocities inflicted upon the people of Amritsar.
