The Vernacular Press Act of 1878 empowered district magistrates to demand security deposits from vernacular newspaper publishers and to confiscate their printing machinery, plant, and associated assets if they published material deemed seditious or objectionable by the colonial administration. Because the Act allowed both the confiscation of the printing press and broader newspaper assets, BPSC designated option D (More than one of the above).
