In accordance with the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1992 (Article 243B), the Panchayati Raj framework establishes a uniform three-tier structure of local self-government consisting of Gram Panchayats at the village level, Panchayat Samitis at the intermediate/block level, and Zilla Parishads at the district level.
