राज्य के राज्यपाल की विधायी शक्तियां:
संविधान के अनुच्छेद 168 के अनुसार राज्यपाल राज्य विधानमंडल का अभिन्न अंग है तथा उसे निम्नलिखित प्रमुख विधायी शक्तियां प्राप्त हैं:
- सत्र आहूत करना, सत्रावसान एवं विघटन (अनुच्छेद 174): राज्य विधानमंडल के सत्र को बुलाना, सत्रावसान करना तथा विधानसभा को समय पूर्व भंग करने की शक्ति।
- अभिभाषण एवं संदेश भेजना (अनुच्छेद 175 व 176): आम चुनाव के बाद प्रथम सत्र तथा प्रत्येक वर्ष के प्रथम सत्र (बजट सत्र) में संयुक्त अभिभाषण प्रस्तुत करना।
- विधेयकों पर सहमति (अनुच्छेद 200): राज्य विधानमंडल द्वारा पारित विधेयक को स्वीकृति देना, पुनर्विचार हेतु लौटाना अथवा राष्ट्रपति के विचारार्थ सुरक्षित रखना (अनुच्छेद 201)।
- अध्यादेश जारी करने की शक्ति (अनुच्छेद 213): जब विधानमंडल सत्र में न हो, तो कानून के समान प्रभावी अध्यादेश प्रख्यापित करना (सत्र प्रारंभ होने के 6 सप्ताह के भीतर अनुमोदन अनिवार्य)।
- विधान परिषद में मनोनयन (अनुच्छेद 171(5)): साहित्य, विज्ञान, कला, सहकारिता आंदोलन और समाज सेवा के 1/6 सदस्यों को मनोनीत करना।

Legislative Powers of the State Governor:
Under the Constitution, the Governor is an integral part of the State Legislature (Article 168) and exercises extensive legislative authorities:
- Summoning, Proroguing, and Dissolution (Article 174): Summons and prorogues both Houses of the State Legislature and can dissolve the Legislative Assembly.
- Right to Address and Send Messages (Articles 175 & 176): Addresses the Legislature at the commencement of the first session after general elections and the first session each year (Budget Session).
- Assent to Bills (Article 200): Grants assent, withholds assent, returns non-money bills for reconsideration, or reserves bills for the consideration of the President (Article 201).
- Ordinance Making Power (Article 213): Promulgates Ordinances when the State Legislature is not in session, carrying the same force as a legislative Act (must be approved within 6 weeks of reassembly).
- Nominations (Article 171(5)): Nominates 1/6th of members to the Legislative Council from literature, science, art, cooperative movement, and social service.
