Surendra Nath Bannerjee famously wrote in his autobiography 'A Nation in Making' that 'the partition announcement fell like a bomb shell upon us'. He was one of the foremost leaders of the Anti-Partition and Swadeshi Movement against Lord Curzon's partition of Bengal in 1905. He organized mass protests, boycotts, and public meetings throughout Bengal.
