हैदर अली (1721–1782): मैसूर राज्य के कुशल शासक। फ्रांसीसी सहयोग से सेना का आधुनिकीकरण किया, डिंडीगुल में आधुनिक शस्त्रागार बनाया तथा प्रथम आंग्ल-मैसूर युद्ध (1767–69) में अंग्रेजों को पराजित किया।
