मानव विकास (Human Development) का तात्पर्य:
- अर्थशास्त्री महबूब-उल-हक एवं अमर्त्य सेन के अनुसार, मानव विकास का अर्थ केवल आय या GDP की वृद्धि न होकर लोगों के विकल्पों (Choices) का विस्तार करना, उनकी क्षमताओं (Capabilities) का संवर्धन करना तथा उन्हें स्वतंत्रता, आत्मसम्मान, बेहतर स्वास्थ्य एवं गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा के साथ एक सार्थक, स्वस्थ और उत्पादक जीवन जीने के अवसर प्रदान करना है।
