भारत में रिमोट सेंसिंग (सुदूर संवेदन) का प्रारंभ:
- 1970 में: इसरो द्वारा केरल के कोकोनट पाम में 'रूट-विल्ट' (Root-Wilt) रोग का पता लगाने हेतु हैलिकॉप्टर/हवाई जहाज से मल्टीस्पेक्ट्रल फोटोग्राफी कर रिमोट सेंसिंग का प्रथम सफल प्रयोग किया गया।
- उपग्रह आधारित सुदूर संवेदन का प्रारंभ भास्कर-1 (1979) तथा पूर्ण व्यावसायिक उपग्रह IRS-1A (17 मार्च 1988) के प्रक्षेपण से हुआ।
