Three Stages/Dimensions of Disability According to WHO (ICIDH Framework):

The World Health Organization (WHO) conceptualizes disability through a three-stage sequential continuum under the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps (ICIDH):

• 1. Impairment (क्षति): Any loss or abnormality of psychological, physiological, or anatomical structure or function at the organ level (e.g., loss of a limb, damaged retina).
• 2. Disability (अक्षमता): Any restriction or lack of ability (resulting from an impairment) to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being (e.g., inability to walk, write, or see).
• 3. Handicap (निःशक्तता / सामाजिक बाधा): A social disadvantage for a given individual resulting from an impairment or disability that limits or prevents the fulfillment of a normal societal role (e.g., denial of employment or inaccessible buildings).
