भूस्खलन (Landslide):
- परिभाषा: गुरुत्वाकर्षण बल के प्रत्यक्ष प्रभाव से पहाड़ी ढलानों पर स्थित चट्टानों, मिट्टी, मलबे तथा गाद का अचानक तीव्र गति से नीचे की ओर खिसकना।
- कारण: मूसलाधार बारिश, बादल फटना, भूकंप तथा अविवेकपूर्ण सड़क निर्माण व वनों की कटाई (हिमालय व पश्चिमी घाट में सर्वाधिक)।
