A Statement followed by Conclusion-I and Conclusion-II is given below. You have to take the Statement to be true even if it seems to be at variance from the commonly known facts. Read all Conclusions and then decide which of the given Conclusion(s) logically follows/follow from the Statement, disregarding the commonly known facts.

Statement : Some cats are almirahs. Some almirahs are chairs. All chairs are tables.

Conclusion-I : Certainly some almirahs are tables.

A.(a) Only Conclusion-I
B.(b) Only Conclusion-II
C.(c) Both Conclusion-I and Conclusion-IICorrect
D.(d) Neither Conclusion-I nor Conclusion-II
Explanation & Solution

Correct Option: (c) Both Conclusion-I and Conclusion-II

Let us analyze the statements using syllogism: Statement 1: Some cats are almirahs (C intersect A). Statement 2: Some almirahs are chairs (A intersect Ch). Statement 3: All chairs are tables (Ch subset T). Conclusion-I: Certainly some almirahs are tables. Since some almirahs are chairs, and all chairs are tables, those almirahs that are chairs must also be tables. Therefore, certainly some almirahs are tables (Conclusion-I is valid). Conclusion-II: Some cats may not be chairs. Since the relationship between cats and chairs is only that some cats are almirahs and some almirahs are chairs, there is no requirement or universal statement that all cats must be chairs. In fact, it is entirely possible that some cats are not chairs (possibility 'may not be' holds true). Thus, Conclusion-II is valid. Therefore, both Conclusion-I and Conclusion-II logically follow. Option (c) is correct.

A.(a) केवल निष्कर्ष-I
