हमें शहर P और शहर Q के बीच की दूरी ज्ञात करनी है। कथन-1 के अनुसार Q और R के बीच की दूरी 18 km है। कथन-2 के अनुसार P और R के बीच की दूरी 43 km है। दोनों कथन मिलकर भी यह नहीं बताते कि P, Q और R एक ही सीध (सरेख) में हैं या त्रिकोण बनाते हैं। त्रिभुज की असमानता के अनुसार P और Q के बीच की दूरी 25 km से 61 km के बीच कुछ भी हो सकती है। अतः दोनों कथन मिलकर भी पर्याप्त नहीं हैं। विकल्प (d) सही है।

Question : How far is city P from city Q?
Statement-1 : City Q is 18 km from city R.
Statement-2 : City P is 43 km from city R.
Which one of the following is correct in respect of the Question and the Statements?
Correct Option: Both Statement-1 and Statement-2 are not sufficient to answer the Question
We need to find the distance between city P and city Q. Statement-1 gives the distance between Q and R as 18 km. Statement-2 gives the distance between P and R as 43 km. Neither statement alone nor both together give the relative directional orientation or collinearity of P, Q, and R. If they do not lie on a straight line, the distance PQ can vary between the difference and sum of PR and QR (i.e., between 43 - 18 = 25 km and 43 + 18 = 61 km) according to the triangle inequality.
