StatePYQ ("we", "us", "the platform") provides free access to previous year exam questions and model answers, on the web and on our Android app. This policy explains what data we collect, how it's used, and what choices you have.

Browsing the site

You do not need an account to browse, search, or read questions and model answers on StatePYQ, on the web or in the app. There is no paywall or login gate on public content.

Information we collect

If you don't sign in: theme (light/dark), language (English/Hindi), and study progress/bookmarks are stored only on your device (browser local storage on the web, on-device storage in the app) — not on our servers, and not accessible to us. This works fully offline-first in the app and does not require any account.

If you sign in with Google: we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google, used only to identify your account. Once signed in, your bookmarks, study progress, and spaced-repetition review schedule sync to our database (hosted on Supabase) so they carry over between your devices — for example, between the website and the Android app, or between two phones. The app also creates a temporary anonymous session on first launch, before you choose to sign in, so your activity isn't lost if you sign in later; this anonymous session is merged into your account the first time you sign in and is not linked to your identity before that point.

Error and crash reports: We use a third-party error-tracking service to catch and diagnose crashes, on the web and in the app. It may capture technical details like the page/screen, device type, and stack traces at the time of an error. This is used only for fixing bugs, never for tracking individual visitors.

Server logs: Our hosting provider and database provider may log standard technical information (IP address, request timestamps) as part of normal server operation, per their own privacy policies.

Accounts

Signing in is optional and only needed to keep your bookmarks, progress, and review schedule in sync across devices. You can use every feature of StatePYQ — browsing, searching, reading questions and model answers, practicing drills — without ever creating an account. Signing in is via Google only; we do not offer or store a separate StatePYQ password. You can request account deletion at any time (see Contact below), which removes your synced data from our database; data already stored only on a device you no longer have access to cannot be remotely deleted by us.

Cookies

StatePYQ does not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking. On the web, a session cookie is used to keep you signed in if you choose to use an account, and for internal editorial login; it does not apply if you browse without signing in. The Android app does not use cookies.

Advertising and third parties

StatePYQ uses a privacy-focused analytics service to understand overall traffic and which content gets the most use — page visits, language selection, saved/bookmarked questions, and filter usage. It does not use cookies, does not collect personally identifiable information, and does not track visitors across other websites. This data is used only to guide what content to build next, and is not sold or shared with any other party. StatePYQ does not run any third-party advertising.

Data sharing

We do not sell or rent visitor data. Data described above is only shared with the service providers named in this policy (hosting, database, error-tracking, and analytics providers), solely to operate the platform.

Children's privacy

StatePYQ is intended for exam aspirants and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the platform adds features (e.g. a paid tier, push notifications). Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
